August 18th, 9-noon. Led by "scrappy" knitter Deb White

Knitters always have little balls of yarn left over- favourite colours, memories of a little boy sweater, or a treasured pair of mitts. It just seems difficult to let them go. Scrappy Hat to the rescue! Come join us for a morning that includes an introduction to colour theory, followed by the creation of your hat. There are choices to be made at specific points- three different edges, two body styles, length decisions. Yarn balls will be provided.

Requirements:
*TOOLS: Size 4mm and 4.5mm needles- to knit small diameters (I generally use a short circular needle - 9 inch cord- for the body and change to double pointed needles to close the top. Magic Loop is appropriate, but I will not be teaching that technique. You may use it if you are comfortable with it.). Please note: if you knit loosely or tightly, you may have to adjust your needle size.
- Stitch markers (6-8), scissors, blunt darning needle

*SKILLS: Knitting in the round, k2 together, purl stitch, some experience with two colour stranded knitting.

This is an outdoor workshop, so please dress for the weather. You can bring lunch or order in advance from The Back Kitchen, our community cafe. The ferry leaves Millhaven every hour on the half hour (730, 830, 930, etc) and costs $11 round trip. Please be early as it can be busy.
