Wool “In-the-grease” is a fleece that has been ‘skirted’ to remove the worst bits of dirt and chaff, but is otherwise just as it came off the sheep.
A whole fleece will weigh from 4.5 up to 8 lb.
We keep some of this North Country wool in stock for those who are ambitious enough to do the whole process. There are several tons of raw wool available from this April’s shearing until we ship to the woolen mill in early June. If you want to pick out your own fleece just as it is being shorn, contact us and we’ll try to make arrangements.
