Very rustic and it smells like sheep :)

The descriptor for the dye lot is accurate, it is very brownish. I'm making a sweater for my husband with it, so far have done sleeves and started the body. I have worsted weight, and on size 5mm have a gauge of 15 stitches per 4 inches. There is vegetable matter (straw, chaff etc) in the yarn, but I either pick it out or leave it. Based on previous experience it will come out on blocking. This is extremely rustic and I have only used the fingering previously but that does soften very nicely with blocking and some eucalan so I expect the same for this. I initially started the body in a standard 1x1 rib on a tubular cast on. Didn't like that so re did in a half twisted with tubular cast on - you can see from the comparison photo that the stitch definition on the twisted rib is quite lovely.

Multitasking yarn!

The real beauty of Topsy’s yarn is it’s ability to multitask. It not only serves in the traditional capacities of knitting and crocheting, you can use it for crewelwork, in punch needles, or weaving as well. Create a knitted piece then felt it. Topsy’s yarn does it all beautifully in generous skeins with a great colour palette.

My new favorite yarn

Haven’t started my project yet but the yarn is wonderfully rustic and the colors are so vibrant. It has a nice feel in my hands and I expect will be amazing to knit with. Love what you’re doing at Topsy Farm!!!

Sculptural beauty of aran weight!

I knit an Elizabeth Zimmermann bonnet and had exactly enough! This wool is very soft and warming when you find the right gauge, so knit a swatch! You may be surprised at how fast it knits up, and how far it goes!
