Versatile!

This roving is good for making thrummed mittens but lately I have been experimenting. In older Scandinavian knitting, roving was used to knit mittens, partially felted and brushed, then embroidered. I am trying that now. It’s a bit tricky because of the thinness of the roving, but not impossible. Best to hand roll it into a ball first, doubling the fibre by rolling it from the middle and the outside. As you knit you can give it a gentle twist. If the roving breaks, just do a quick over/under with the ends a few times to rejoin it. I will send a photo when I am done!
